I'm wondering if anybody knows about Tanara (it might be Tamara, something between the two) guitars/ basses. I recently found a shortscale in pieces that I completely forgot I had.

I have one. I had plastered it with stickers years ago and when I scraped them off I discovered that lo and behold I did not have a Samick, I had a Tanara. It is my understanding that Tanara was made by Samick (As were many others) years ago. Beyond that I don't know much about them, mine had the pickups, electronics and tuners swapped many many years ago.....

It's Tanara. The '80s basses which were made in Korea were decent players. Not high-end mind you, but good solid cheap to buy basses. Production moved to China in the 2000s and the quality went with it.
