I have been using Trace Elliot Taper Core strings for the past 8yrs or better. With TE out of buisness and me on my last set of strings I have compiled. I'm on the search for a new brand of strings for my Stewart Spector 5 string bass. I'm looking at the La Bella Super Steps and Ken Smith TAPER CORE BASS STRINGS _ CUSTOM BALANCED ROUND WOUNDS.
Any suggestions out there for a good string to try?
I like Solo's Pop Slap and Tap styles. I also use my right hand for harmonics for some of my own style/type of playing. I play through Trace Elliot all tube V4 head and a, AH300SMX for back up, with a 4/10 with a tweeter and a 15" 300 watt bottom. My Spector is a very rare 1 of 4 made, proto type w/t active 9volt EMG's. My favorite slap machine ever.
That's my set up. Can anyone help me with a good choice for Strings?

Fodera makes great strings, and they will make them in whatever style, material or gauge you want.
