Ok I have a taper wound B string on my 6 string, and when I play the way I normally do I get this clacking of the b string against the frets. it happens to some extent on the e string aswell. This does not happen with my 4 string which is the same scale length and is strung with lighter guage strings. Anyone know what htis might be? Do taper wound strings have less tension than their non-taper wound cousins?

Using taper wound strings will have dropped the action a little. You should ideally set up the instrument whenever you change string types.

Yeah did that. It's a quality instrument, just seems to lack B string tension with a .130 thick b string.

    Maybe try a .135 then?

Yeah I wouldn't mind but they are Elixirs and I have 2 more sets laying around. Kinda sucks. Oh well.
