I'm looking to start laying down some tracks and I need to have a good unit that isn't too complicated, but yields some stand up results.

I would love to have a Roland 1824CD or the Fostex VF-160, but my pockets aren’t that fat.

Has anyone had any experience with the Tascam 788 and the CD writer of the same namesake?

I went to a site were it had a section for owners to do a review and over all I heard good things, but a few people said that were disappointed about some of the feature, etc.

So I figured I would ask the talk bass forum their experiences to see if this is the tool of choice for me.

Primary it will be used to lay down my bass tracks first then my vocals followed by additional musical instruments after that.

What microphone do you find complements this system best as well?

    Thanks :)
