Hey TB'ers, I'm looking to target some of the similar bands that sound like this band that I'm currently gigging with. Please feel free to listen to the sample song clips and chime-in telling me the first band that comes to mind.

  2. What no one commented????

I own a copy and listen to it often so I was waiting for some others to jump in first.

I really dig Jake's take on things... killer tone and phrasings.

The bass sounds great too man. I'm digging on the other live stuff you've sent, but the Jake disc is my favorite work of yours I've heard.

I'm hearing a cross between Steve Khan/Public Access & Flim & The BB's. I'm not sure I dig the (I assume) 2 guitar thing, if I'm hearing right. (Or is it overdubs?).

I like it though. It's refreshing to hear good progressive music amongst all the never ending metal & punk stuff posted. I'm not hating, just not my thing!

I dig J-Raj's tone/playing a lot! If I had to compare it sound wise to something along with Steve Khan, I would say some of the older straight ahead style ECM music with John Abercrombie. I also hear some of Steve Swallows excellent round and warm tone in J's playing, check out Paul Motian's Electric Bebop Band with two guitar players.....great stuff!!

Great tunes. Puts me in mind of some of Scofield's stuff over the years. Went to MySpace link. I hear Frisell as well. Thx posting this on TB. Damn I'd love to play this type of stuff in my town.

Hey J the tracks are very nice and I would have to say that the music does go a little in the Zone of Scofield,Frisell and Khan which is a very good thing.

stay with those guys as long as you can, because you guys really sound great together but if you ever decide to leave that group I would definitely be down for an audition.

  8. I was thinking some Frissell too. It's hard to pinpoint. Definitely some Scofield influence. I guess you could say maybe some MMW/The Bad Plus if they took a chill pill. A little progressive, a little straight ahead, all cool!
