Man, this is a great site. I've been reading it and even contributing a few times already, and I've just been here a week. It is certainly very big and sometimes difficult to find info. I know the fault is ENTIRELY mine, but I find myself getting overwhelmed by all the info here. So, how to narrow it down? I'm into jazz bass, both upright and fretless bass guitar, although I only play the latter. I'm interested in the whole history and practice of jazz bass playing. It is very difficult searching all the new threads that appear to find anything jazz related. Could any of you more experienced users give me some pointers here? Much obbliged! Rob Mac
Welcome to TB! Here are some links that might help: http://www.google.com/custom?domain...;S:http://www.talkbass.com;LP:1;FORID:1&hl=en try using the Google TB search.
Many thanks for that. Some useful links there. The problem with Google TB search, though, is the term 'jazz bass' brings every reference to the much discussed Fender Jazz Bass, used for all styles. Oh well, I'll keep searching Rob Mac
Here's another source you might want to check out: http://www.jazzstandards.com/history/index.htm. Good luck.
Add -Fender to your searches. The - can be used for any search where you don't want to see a resullt with a certain word included. Here's a link to a Google search tutorial that I've found helpful: http://www.googleguide.com/crafting_queries.html
