The assumption (and this is absolutely clear from the posts) is that a 236W amp could not possibly perform the same as a 450W amp.

It isn't an assumption, it's physical reality.

When TCE and many of the amps owners/users (and BGM) state that real world performance of the amp is at the same level,

Obviously, I don't see things exactly the same way that you do, but your comments are duly noted (again).

I like the boxes. I see nothing wrong with them. What's the difference if you put stuff in a box or in a list? It's still the same info.

I would totally agree if the thing in the box is what you want people to focus on. Tom keeps posting that it isn't... but yet there that box is, screaming out to the reader that the 'summary of the entire test' is contained in that single number.

I actually have no issue with the box, as long as BG wants people to have that number as the primary take away from the technical test. I have no problem with that either, and only commented since Tom says that isn't the take-away he wants people to have.

Seems kind of obvious to me, but a small deal, just like this whole 'tempest in a teapot'.

However, I'm still waiting for my apology from BG for that sloppy impedance summary on the RS210

They are wrong.

Kind of disagree here. If one amp has a different hi pass filter, it is going to sound way different than another amp putting out the same wattage in a different range. Every amp sounds quite different, and the relationship between, tone, tonal preference, and even volume with wattage is a moderate correlation at best.

As Tom correctly states, 'wattage isn't everything', and in the case of some of these new amps, 'wattage isn't even really that much of anything'.

Again, the issue with TC reporting 'true wattage' or not is clear, and that ethical issue is valid and has been discussed to death. However, interpreting the entire performance of a piece of gear on that one number is not really a very good way to do it, and for those of us who have a bit of experience, and have used this and many other heads in the same general class in the real world, and even in some relatively controlled GTG settings, it is much more complicated (in a good way).
