TCE Toneprint Curiosity

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by stepswork4me, Aug 20, 2012.

  1. Hey my bass brethren,

I've got the TCE BG-250 and have been digging through the Toneprint effects and love the idea of having all of edits available. I'm wondering if any of you effects junkies have heard any rumors or have any info if there will be any type of multi-pedal that will hold all of the Toneprints and be able to run more than one at a time? If so, maybe I'll get lucky and there will be firmware available to make that a possibility on me amp.

  2. I guess there aren't any rumors.

Funny I had the exact same tough couple of days a go without even seeing your post!!!

I emailed TC and here's the answer:

    Christian, Sep 17 12:21 (CEST):

    Dear Joe,

Thank you for contacting TC Electronic Support.

We would like to thank you for your product feature request - it has been forwarded to our product team for consideration. At this point I can unfortunately neither tell whether this idea will make it into a product nor provide you with a possible time frame for when it could make it into a product.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you should have any additional questions, please feel free to update this incident and I will be happy to assist you further.

    Best regards,

I'm really excited by your toneprint on the BH250. However, it's only limited to one at a time. It's ok for rehearsal but cannot really be changed in a live situation (I know I can A/B with previous toneprint but the level knob may not match in the middle of a song).

What about a multi-effect toneprint, something like a 3-4 slots with dedicated knobs and footswitches? That will give us instant access to your nice Chorus/Octaver/Spectracomp/Tubedrive!!!

    TC are mean, or stupid.

Hopefully the first, and they'll eventually soften.

Also waiting for the editor S/W :)

Yeah that toneprint thing bugs me. 'There are tonnes of controls in here that we won't let you have access to yourselves' = 'this is a toy for kids.'

Maybe I'm being a bit severe, but still. It could be SO much more!

I'm really very bad at dialing good sound from effects, so toneprint is a nice thing for me!
Here the email is sent to TC this week:

    Hi Christian.

If you think of going this way someday, the best way to implement such a product in my opinion is to have:

a toneprint "base" pedal (in, out, power supply, footswitch, dial-knob, usb)
a toneprint "add-on" pedal (with only footswitch and dial-knob) that can "connect/snap/attach" to the base pedal (no additionnal in/out/power)
the possibility to add as much "add-on" pedals as we want to the "base" pedal (to a certain limit I agree)
a win/mac/iphone editor so we can do our own toneprint add upload by usb/iphone
a way to save our own toneprint on the iPhone app in case it's needed live

Thanks and have a nice day
    Donald
