I think it depends on your goals. Take the 3-5 lessons and then you can decide for yourself. There are things about playing the guitar that will help you, but from a technical and physical standpoint, you'll need some help learning to play the double bass.

How much depends on what type of playing you want to do and how good at it you would like to be.

I played my first gig in years on an electric bass this weekend and I was amazed out how great I soloed. After all of the work that I have put into doublebass, bass guitar is still much, much easier for me. Probably always will be, but I have to play doublebass now. There's no way I could go back.

    Good luck.
