teaching slap bass

    The teacher in my guitar class in high school wants me to teach the class how to pop and slap and I was wondering what you guys think I should show them.


    Oh yeah, Im not trying to soung gay but im pretty good at popping and slapping, so dont limit the ideas.

    is it a class of bass players? If not maybe just show them what it is?

    theres like two bass players in there, but the teacher played bass for 9 years, and he wants to learn.

    If I were you I would jusst go in and show off, talk about it a bit real simple. Then say you wanna learn this it's gonna cost you! :)

    Serious answer:

    Show the basic technique of how to do a slap, how to do a pop then explain the rhythmic aspect (i.e. show how the basic idea is to approach the bass as if it's a drum kit). Have some simple exercises (octave lines, octaves with hammers from the b7, etc.) worked up for people to try.
