I recently added the Tech 21 Boost R.V.B. and the MXR Bass Auto Q. They are both very well made and good sounding pedals. I like the reverb best when it's just slightly perceptible. The Bass Auto Q is something else. I've tried a lot of pedals over the last two years and have sold or returned many. These two are keepers. My current pedal setup includes: Peterson StroboStomp2 MXR Bass Auto Q EH Nano Baseballs EBS MultiComp MXR M-80 Tech 21 Boost R.V.B. Boss LS-2 Boss RC-2 I also have a Tech 21 XXL Bass on order.
Uhhh... Is that really all you have to say about the Boost/RVB? It's a new product on the market, a lot of us have been asking and wondering about it. Warrants a bit more of a review.
Sorry, I'm not really good at reviews. I just know what I like, but I'll try. I had the newest Boss digital reverb in the past along with a Marshall unit and reverb on both the Boss GT-6B and Digitech BP200. The Boost R.V.B has a lot more control over shaping the reverb. The sound can range from very subtle, organic light reverb up to a reverb that is way over the top. I prefer a subtle reverb. It's a very warm reverb with no perceptible noise. I spoke with Tech 21 about the electronics. Their product description would lead you to assume it's 100% analog. It's not. It's a hybrid with the reverb electronics being digital and most of the controls being analog. But it doesn't sound the least bit digital. I am so pleased with it, and with Tech 21's customer service, that I have ordered the XXL Bass sight unseen. The quality of build seems good. It doesn't have the brick like feel of the MXR M-80 but it feels nicely made. I use it with a Sterling HS and a GK amp. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them.
Bongomania, I'm afraid that I don't have your technical reviewing skills. I just know if I like something or not. I purchased an EBS MultiComp based upon your review. It had to fiddle with it at first, but I really like it. You reviews were excellent.
