I'm surprised this hasn't been started before.

How many of us bass players have day jobs as Technology people or Engineers or some sort? How many even do it as a major in school, or even as a hobby? Judging from what I've read here, it's a sizable group.

I say it's time to start a club. It's the Technology/Engineer Club. To have a little fun, the numbering system will go in hexadecimal to indulge in our inner nerds :hyper:

I'm a Software Engineer/Programmer, currently working on website applications (and web games on the side). I will be #0x0000.

Feel free to post some of your tech projects and stuff you want to share. I already have Huoli Arcade's test build posted on another thread.

  2. I will be joining the IT industry as a consultant sometime around late-middle next year; right now I'm in the final semester of my Comp Sci & Engg degree.

I'm pretty enthusiastic about the research side of things: audio signal processing, parallel computing and, more recently, I've been getting into software engineering and defect prediction. I do hope to become a researcher sometime in the future: the industrial scheme of things, doesn't appeal to me, TBQH :)

  3. I am a civil engineer (although, not yet fully licensed) and I work for a consulting firm. My main focus is on road reconstruction, residential land development and storm water management. I also do some land surveying. Most of my work involves CAD and infrastructure modeling.

Tituscrow - funny picture, I'll send that to my coworkers. Do you want to join?

John Turner - Why aren't you all over this yet?

No thanks mate...I'm no engineer :)

Thought the pic would strike a chord though! I'll definitely keep an eye on the thread though. Could get interesting.

I'm a hardware and software engineer, developing broadcast video products currently. Specifically I do embedded systems: board support packages, drivers, real-time OS, etc.

Does a ex telecommuications tech count? Back in the day after 1A2 and way before VOIP we used to program phone systems using Hexidecimal codes. We used T.I. terminals that printed all the info out on heat sensitive paper as we programmed. The terminal ran on a 300 baud rate. Ka-chunk, Ka-chunk, Ka-chunk. That was cutting edge at the time.
