Telecaster Bass Pickup

  1. Does anyone know where I can get a new reproduction of the big fat Fender Tele bass neck pickup, or something that sounds like it?

Isn't the Darkstar a good fit for that?

Doc, I believe he was talking about the Tele bass with the big mudbucker, the one that came after the original single coil P and then the standard P.

  3. Right, the big mudbucker is what I am looking for.

You mean the one looking like gibson p-u on the 70' telecaster (or squire RI).

I don't know if this will fit in the mudbucker cavity without alteration but people rave about 'em so they must be incredibly good:

  6. I might try one of those Model Ones. I've had good luck with DiMarzio pickups, so it might be worth a try.

Yep, The DiMazio Model One was designed to replace the Gibson Mudbucker. It might be just what you are looking for. The Dark Star is a monster single coil pickup. Very different from these humbuckers but an outstanding performer in its own right.

  8. Do you know if DiMarzio has routing templates for the Model One?

    I'm about to try it!
How much difference did you notice when reversing the pickup, so the pole pieces faced the other way?

Hmmm... assuming you tried that. :D

    I never had.
The way it is right now is an excellent combination of depth, color, and clean top end.
