Future Islands. Vocals over bass, keys, & drums. Lyrics are mostly melancholy, but they're capable of rocking out.
The Blasters. They just released a couple new albums. One is a Big Bill Broonzy tribute and the latest has new tunes by the band.
Not necessarily new.......But maybe new to you: Seventh Wonder: Redemption: Haken: I'm really digging this right now:
The bassist plays for Between The Buried And Me. Not sure if the others are involved in anything as prominent. They have two albums out. Both are fantastic.
I'm going to recommend Can, a German band originating in the late 60's. Great drumming especially, funky and experimental. On my phone, no idea how to link a youtube, but the album Tago Mago is a masterpiece. 'Oh Yeah' is a great track, but the whole album is.
I like these guys...guitarist plays bass pedals with his feet...I keep waiting for the call to fill in...
