So I find myself constantly bass shopping. Not looking for one, dont need a new one, not looking for deals just looking. I have an Ibanez, and a two week old SX. Both sound great and are more than what I need. Not to mention I am building a Warmoth (Fender) Jazz.

As of right now, (4-21-2009, 11:59pm) I am looking at a beautiful Epiphone Thunderbird and considering bidding on it. Why? I dont know...

I am currently a bassist without a band, although I play with my church every other sunday and jam occasionally with friends. And yet I still kinda want this bass.

Hmmmm....maybe I am tired. Maybe I have money burning a hole in my pocket.:rollno: Maybe I like collecting basses! (and modding)

My name is Gordon....and I am addicted to basses.
  2. My journey into bass, madness began many years ago. Now I limit Myself to just three that I currently own. I thank you for letting me share on your bass forum. I have been away from music and bass to long. I currently have some signed bass's on ebay. I am thinning my bass stock.

Oh wait that's me.................:help:

If you really want to stop, you'll need to stop visiting Talk Bass. Keep your mind on something else. You could start being a porn head or maybe you could start visiting Life After the Oil Crash and become a Doomer...

Or, you could let GAS be your character defect, which IMO is much much better, saner, not less expensive, but better for your relationship and something your mother would approve of... :D

porn is not something my mother would approve of.
(besides i can have that and TB in the same window on different tabs on my computer screen anyway.:smug:)

i shop expensive and buy cheap. i normally dont listen to my impulses to buy buy buy.
  11. Sounds like me. I'm always on the lookout for a good deal. I love looking at beautiful basses/amps. They're like looking at fine artwork. It never gets old. If I had enough money to buy all the basses I wanted, I might get tired of it. But GAS is all about wanting something that maybe you can't get.

Baird6869 RIP Gord Downey. A True Canadian Icon.

I have over a dozen basses and many of them are relatively high end..... forget smoking, cocaine or heroin would be cheaper for me!:p:D

Dude don't worry about it. Everytime my parents and friends gave me crap about buying gear I'd just say "At least I'm not blowing my cash on hard drugs and prostitutes." We've got a great hobby man, and that's more than a lot of people can say. If you love it, and you're into it, then it's all good.

Just be responsible and make sure the bills can be paid at the end of the month.

I believe "less eBay, more Mel Bay" is the expression?

Not that I've cracked open my Mel Bay book, but hypocrisy does not disprove a point . . .

I'll tell you what my problem is as far as constantly looking for basses is. Maybe it's yours, too. I'm not playing nearly enough. I could be playing an easy 3 hours a day with my school schedule, but I screw around on the Internet (especially the Basses and Effects forums). If I would just do it, I'd be a good bassist by now. Instead, I'm me. XD
