Mexican made Fender, sounds like it's a reasonable deal if it plays ok.

Looking closer at the headstock the Fender decal is coming off and at the tip is a small Squier series logo. I’m not an expert but why would there be a Squier logo on it if it was a genuine Fender? Looks rebadged to me.

@Yonni These existed in the early 90s I think. I believe they’re basically MiM Fenders but with the worse Squier electrical components inside. They were like a step between Squiers and the MiMs, seem like they’re supposed to be pretty decent. A "Squier Series" Fender?

There was the Fender Squier Series, in 1982, before the brand was "split off" into its own thing from Frender proper. They are essentially MIM Fenders (with "cheaper" parts?).

This would date the bass in question to 1982/83. The MN4xxx Serial Number supports this, as well.

Yeah, oops, I missed that. Makes the deal iffy in my book. Could still be a good one though.

Except there was no Mexico plant in 82/83. Those early Squiers were MIJ.
The early 90's saw these MIM Squiers. My uncle's band got all new instruments around '93 and they asked me to do setups, and the Squier guitar they picked out was horrible.

If it plays ok, for 230USD that’s not bad.

a decent hard case is worth 50-100 in my book, so if it plays and sounds decent I'd buy it.

    Its a 1994 Squier. Maybe worth $100.

  13. If it's a MIJ or even MIM (again, not sure they existed then), or a MIK "Squier by Fender", it could be a really good instrument... or it could be pretty poor. Some of those were great, some of those were.... not. It's up to the player to decide, unless you have an expert around who can go over it for you.

  14. I'd buy it.... just to take that fugly red pickgaurd off it.

    I respectfully disagree. You can't find a 94 Squier Jazz w/HSC for under $230.
