I know this is a little early, but my wonderful girlfriend surprised me with a brand new Spector NS2000Q4 black stain! I sold a Jazz Bass earlier this year that was my backup to my Precision - she had overheard me in conversation talking about the Spector and ordered one.

She ordered it from Zzounds - arrived in about 4 days and was perfectly setup right out of the box! Kudos to Zzounds!

I know this is a korean manufacture, but the construction, materials, electronics are all top notch! The neck is perfect for me - very nice fret work and it just feels like butter in my hands. :D

It has passive EMG pups, but an active circuit - I'm loving all the tonal possibilities.

All in all - a fantastic bass at this price point! Looks like my Pbass is going to get a little dusty!;)
I'll post a pic when we open the new digital camera - got to wait til xmas for that one!

So what is everybody else getting? Or already got? :D

BH congrats on the gift. I suspect you will get years of playing pleasure out of that bass.

Dave, what kind of strings are on the Spector? They look like copper in that pic. Nice looking bass BTW.

It feels like butter in your hands? Dude, I might take that in and have someone look at it.

This is my Valentines Day bass from last year. It was a surprise and a very nice one, obviously:

So even though it was Valentines Day and not Xmas, can I still play?

  5. Thanks! Those are GHS Infinity. Bass Central was giving away free sets when I ordered the Spector. They are anodized with some red stuff, supposedly to extend string life... You can see the coating is wearing out over the neck pickup, on the E and A strings, where I play 75% of the time. I think they retail for 93$. The next B-string to go on this baby will be tapered, though.

BTW, Christle, are you still in love with your Freeway? :)

Bovinehost, that Jazz is sweet! :smug: '62 re-issue?

Oh yeah! I play it more than the Precision now. I particularly love its tone and for me it is very playable. Just debating on whether to stick with rounds or go with flats on that bass.

Thanks for the info on the strings. I hadn't seen those before.

    DeLorean, those are cool basses.

I started another thread about this bass, but here she is again:

MTD 535, flamed redwood top, mahogany body, wenge/wenge neck.

Xmas present to myself, replacing my Warwick Thumb 5 which I've had 10 years but it's time to move on - I prefer the 19mm string spacing of the MTD vs the 17mm of the Thumb.

My wife got me a SX SPB62 in th sunburst finish. I put some flatwounds on it & I'm really enjoying the old school sound that I'm getting.

I've showed it to a couple of friends & they can't believe that it only costs $109 for it (I'm still in awe at the value). When I took it to church to play it sure got some booty's shaking.

My kids said that I can't play it until Christmas, but I got my way. ;)
