it was this past week that i got my first 7 string bass, ten years ago, from bill conklin.

    this one...

one of the most important turning points in my playing career. i had been playing for about 8 or 9 years at the time, and i felt really stagnant, really sorta trapped, on my 4 strings, so much so that i was considering quitting. this was my last hurrah - if the 7 that i got turned out to be not for me, i was probably going to sell all my gear and give it up, or so i thought at the time.

    thankfully, that didnt' happen :)

anway, just thought i'd share with all you folks.

    :)

  14. Did you just jump straight from a 4 to a 7? Or did you try anything in between?

I tried 5's, i just dont like them much. I figure i would at least like a 6 cause i used to be a guitarist...and sometimes playing bass i miss the extra 2 strings.
So ill probally looking at a 6 or maybe even the GT7's.

lined fretless 4 pedulla and fretted fender jazz directly to unlined fretless 7. it wasn't until a year later that i got my first fretted 7. never played a 6, and only have an acoustic 5 relatively recently and didn't play that either.

  19. So, what are you and the 7-string doing tonight? Nice candle-lit dinner, maybe some soft music from the high C and F strings? :D
Just kidding, man.. congrats on sticking with it for 10 years and beyond.
