I am using heavy gauge strings while on standard tuning.
    My string set is 55-75-90-110.
I am very used to the tightness of the strings and like the thickness.
A set of 105 on the E string won't hurt me...
Is there a problem with the gauge that I use, does it cause to much tension to my bass necks?

If your neck is structurally sound then it should be fine, but if it's not, tuning those strings to standard tuning well let you know.

Its just that every time another bass genious plays a bass of mine says that I am destroying my instruments.
The necks on all my basses are straight like an arrow, keep tuning and have required minimal thruss rod tweeking over the years.

  4. As long as your bass is healthy and the string set is not specifically designed for down-tuning, then no need for concern.
