When someone posts that an amp is "too hi-fi" or "tranparent" what does it mean to everyone?
  2. to me, those things actually mean two different things. for example, i've found that many people call SWR cabinets very "hi-fi", but i've found them to be quite colored. the same has been said about eden heads (although mostly people also call them "clean, yet woolly").

on the other hand, "transparent" to me means that it doesn't impart any color. i have found GK heads to be quite transparent. when i think a bass rig is transparent, it sounds like plugging a bass directly into a recording machine o rmixing console and listening on very accurate monitors. it sounds quite a bit different than most bass rigs, mine included.

Sometimes it's confused with "having a lot of highs" and/or "scooped mids" etc.
