That is an alterative one. All hat and no horse is also correct. I've heard Townes and Guy Clark use that expression. A lot of Texans have cattle but no horse. Real cowboys wear gimmie hats and work clothes. I had my western gear on in a Home Depot and a little kid came up pointing at me" look mom a cowboy". A real cowboy saw that and was real disgusted.

I've never heard the version with "horse". Here's a history of it, which doesn't mention "horse":

‘to be all hat and no cattle’: meanings and origin

I'm not saying the "horse" version doesn't exist, but seems rare compared to "cattle".

Try searching "All hat and no horse" Don't know which is older. Might be regional differences.

I did search for the "horse" version and didn't get any results except for the "cattle" version. Also searched for both, separated by "or" and got only "cattle" results.

    I highly recommend duckduckgo.
DuckDuckGo is an internet search engine that emphasizes protecting searchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results. DuckDuckGo does not show search results from content farms. It uses various APIs of other websites to show quick results to queries and for traditional links it uses the help of its partners and its own crawler.

For the record, the fingerless gloves came in very handy whilst playing Christmas eve. I didn’t need them during rehearsal but once the doors opened (literally), I wanted them! The nearly hour long set went great. I rarely noticed the gloves (did have to be careful about palm muting).

I haven't done this with bass, but I had a pair of gloves that converted to fingerless (perhaps archery gloves from academy?) and I simply removed the part that folds back away so that I could work on HVAC units on cold rooftops and feel screws, etc. Keeps hands mostly warm and allows for fingertips. So this trick is helpful in many other situations too.

Hadn’t posted here in this thread in a while, but wanted to share my upcoming gig. This Friday my Metallica tribute MotorbreatH is playing in Lewisville at Chill Bar. We are playing the entire Master of Puppets album front to back along with a bunch of other songs as well. If you are in the DFW area swing by, it’s a free show! Should be a fun one! These are from a few years back (2018?), but it was for a St. Paddy's Day celebration in Temple. They closed down the street in front of O'Brien's Pub, and it was a blast! 29342525_2066472836715477_1581005301635612672_n.jpg 29389372_2066473576715403_4464525217502330880_n.jpg

    Great pics!

We have a cool opening gig coming up in early May. Here is the promo poster. My band is 'Fools of the Trade' - I'm the one on the far left in that pic. Bad quality picture but oh well.
