It fits, but you can't put the back door on when transporting.

Depends on when it was made. I asked the same question a couple weeks ago. If it's a 400 watter then it might fit depending on when it was made. If it is a 500 watter then definitely not.

Ok, I have found your thread now.
So as my GB440 is the same form factor as the early 400W Thunderfunks, it should fit.
If anybody in fact tried it, plz chime in.

I just got my TFB550 last night and mounted it in a Gator 4 space shallow rack I had laying around. Fit superbly and I was able to utilized the adjustable type rack ears. I opted to mount the amp back so the knobs were inside the flange of the case and there is still about 3/4" of amp's back side inside the rear flange too. Very nice and light with better protection than a bag case which also nice. I don't know if this helps you since I don't know if the dimensions are the same as your amp.

  9. There was a thread somewhere within the last couple of months showing an early Thunderfunk in this SKB shallow case. Only the earliest TF420's will fit. They are 9 1/2" deep. So, if you measure you amp, if it's that depth, it will just fit. The 'mid' period 420's are 10" deep and the newer 420's and all 550's are 10 1/2" deep and will not fit in the shallow case. I use a standard SKB 2 space rack for my 550 and it works great.

  10. Gator shallow rack works fine for the TFB550 as it has a couple of more inches depth than the SKB. Also the rear cover is fullsize, identical to the front whereas SKB has a small "door" in rear which makes it difficult or impossible to access the connections on some gear. I keep my speaker cable and power cord plugged into the amp while still closing the rack.
