 Hey, I had my singer/songwriter dude over last night for some recording and such.

Cheap Panasonic Kereoke mic pointed at him and his acoustic recorded in CakeWalk Pro Audio 9 through a Sound Blaster 16 PCI on my POS 300mhz WinXP running 'music computer' yeah, the upgrades are on my list.

this mornin while sipping the mornin brew... I wrote a line and recorded it; Benavente plugged direct to my sound card (god I need to get some better recording gear!)

Judge me, Rate me, Grade Me!!! (tune's called Believe and the files 4.8mb)

and yes I know the bass is hot in the mix... I'm the bassist :p

Sweet little turnaround between the E and F at 0:56. The Benavente
    sounds awesome!

    Yeah well.... ummmm....DOH!

    :bag:

I'm horrible at spelling :( I'd made my website back in 99... I got an email from my *hopefully* new lead guitarist asking if I'd known I'd spelt "wasteland" wrong on my site! since 1999 it's been wrong

I don't care for the vocals, but your bass playing sounds sweet! :)

I listened to both songs twice.

First of all, I don't think you have the bass too "hot" in the mix. Since it's only you, accoustic guitar and vocals, it would probably start to sound a little bland without a strong bass presence.

I also don't think you need drums, at least not for those 2 songs. They might end up detracting from the overall feeling of the music. But you might want to try them anyway.

Other than a few sour notes in the vocals, i liked the sound a lot. Keep it up.

thanks for the input! the 2 songs linked in this thread are just rough recordings for writing and auditioning purposes. The singer is a little upset I'm letting people listen to them :meh:

do you really think no drums or lead would work? We're heading out as a duo on April 1st and doing 5 tunes. The singer is hunting down a PA/acoustic amp at the moment

Hmmm... drummer and lead less.... more solos for me :D
