Dear God!! The Bass Central Site must be the most agrevating site in this entire planet! There's about 50 assualting message's asking my whats my favorite axe, and then not to mention the 100 strobing ad's, and I was wondering am I the only one who feels this way?
I think the pop ups are annoying (and are not updated regularly at that) and their color scheme sucks. Not to mention their used bass gear prices blow. Yeah, I like them a lot!
I will pass the complaint about the pop-ups along to my boss, I agree, they can be quite irritating. the questions about favorite basses etc. is something that is new to me, I'll look into it. As for the color scheme, this is the first time I've heard a complaint, most people seem to like the new layout. On our used gear prices, I'd put them up against anyone else's. If you find a better deal, let us know - if we can, we'll match or beat anyone else's. There are some people out there that will give stuff away though, we can't do that, it is a BUSINESS. Updating the site is done as often as possible, we don't have a full-time webmaster running the site, and I personally do the checking on it. It is a job that takes several hours a week to complete, and in a shop that is as busy as BC can get it is difficult to do more than about once a week, sometimes not even that often. Sorry about the inconvience, but remember we do have a toll-free number to call, so it's easy to check on anything you are interested in. It only takes a minute, and is free to call, hm?
Hey Gard, there's one thing that's been bugging me.. Perhaps this has been fixed by now, but last time i clicked to see your Status basses, i ended up in the "used" section. Perhaps this is just to cover up that you don't have any Statuses? And you might want to ease up on all the graphics, or get a better server, sometimes it's VERY slow. Just trying to be helpful.
Besides the pop up's, I dislike that little green thing on the left side of the screen where you can choose another brand of basses. It's slow and annoying. I don't have an issue with the colors, or anything like that. Overall, it's not a bad site. Beaver's girl on the beach with him is FINE! I mean that respectfully.
hujo - The reason you went straight to the Used section when you clicked on Status is that the only Status we had in stock was a used Empathy 6. Was, sold it last week, it should be off the site now (haven't looked in a while, sorry). We haven't had a new Status in stock at anytime since I've worked there. Warwicknut - Yeah, I've heard some gripes about the "bass jump" menu thingy. If we get enough negative feedback, it may go the way of the passenger pigeon . Paleale - Good to hear you've had good experiences with us, we're not perfect, but we do try to make everyone happy.
Amen to that! I'm not wild about the color scheme of BC's site, but they're a top-notch outfit. I've been very happy with my purchase (Lakland D55-94 - June 2001), and I am likely to haggle with them over a Ned Steinberger electric upright soon!
No problem with the color scheme. It's kinda refreshing after all the black background sites. Your webmaster does overdo it on the flashy stuff. To use a musical comparison, he's overplaying.
Bass Central rocks--great product, great service, great prices! I think I like the site overall, but yeah, I am not too hip on that green thing that follows you around, or most of the animated stuff. I've bass-shopped online for quite awhile now, and part of the fun for me is the sort of primitive nature of it. Your other major competitors (with whom I've also had good experiences) have pretty simple layout, and you just click on some words and you get the cheesy background and all of that, but somehow it's fun.
Warwicknut - Eh, just doin' my job. Helps to have a job you LIKE doing though . Danny - I'm the EUB guy, we'll be talkin' soon! (I've got an NS EUB, you'll really love it, believe me) Joe - Excellent analogy, I'll borrow it, with your permission? Jerome - Yeah, I don't know of any BAD online shops, they're all pretty good. I just am a bit prejudiced, and think one's a bit better . Glad you're happy with us!
I think it's a great site! Although I never bought anything from them how's the Trade in policy? is it fare?
No gripes here. But Gard, if you ever do...that again, I just may have to go complaining to your boss...
SHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! ...thanks for helpin' me outta that fix man, I greatly appreciate it. If I ever get to HK or you ever get to FL, dinner's on me!
I sent in a price request yesterday for a Warwick Streamer Jazzman 4 string - I hope someone gets back to me before I talk myself out of this, or vice versa - I'm not sure. I vaguely remember asking the price on something else a while back, and it took over a week before someone responded. Why so long?
I really like the BC site, the graphics are cool and the selection of basses is amazing. I hope to be able to buy something from them sometime soon.
Joe - Hopefully it will be faster than a week! Keep in mind that Beaver himself answers ALL e-mail, and that 150-200 e-mails a day is not an unusual number for him to have to get through. Sometimes it does take him a day or two to get to mail. We've discussed the possibility of splitting up the mail, but he really prefers doing it himself for various reason (which I won't bore anyone with). If you want an "instand gratification" price, it's free to call (the number is on the website), call and ask for a price. No matter who answers the phone you'll get a great deal and good service. If you'd prefer to talk with me for any reason, just e-mail me first, and I'll let you know when I will be in.
