What was the bass line that got you hooked on bass? For me it was 'Close to the Edge' by Yes. Chris Squire is awesome, and the lines in that song are sweet as hell....

The bassline in the chorus to "High Times" by Jamiroquai. It still gives me goosebumps! That's the song that made me go to a pawn shop and buy a $50 Lotus P bass.

  6. "lounge act" by nirvana

  7. "Southtown" by P.O.D. The Brown and Fundamental Elements... albums were rad as hell, man.

  8. Filter - Hey man nice shot.

I was given a copy of Black Sabbath's Paraniod on 8 track in 1978 or so

How could I resist... War Pigs, Electric Funeral, Hand of Doom, Fairies wear boots

I got Master of Reality on vinyl days later with my lawn mowing money... within that summer I bought everything they had released

I had wanted to play bass since I was around 8 or so. My Gramps was a country western picker and had me on stage as a "page flipper". I was seated in front of a 2x15 fender cab with a guy thumping a p-bass.... I couldn't catch my breath for 2 hours, I loved it and wanted that power!!!

Sabbath just made me get a bass.

I started a little earlier than the Yes era. I think it was the simplicity of the bass part in Mony Mony and Born on the Bayou that got me started. Just a few years later it was What is Hip and a lot of other ToP stuff. Roundabout was definitely in there somewhere though.

  17. That and "Love Buzz", also Nirvana.

  18. "Blacklisted" by Rancid was the first thing that made me consider bass.

"Step into the Realm" by the Roots was the song that absolutely blew me away.
