I was just thinking about how much everything has changed in my playing, equipment, etc since talkbass. Of course you grow as a player regardless. But just the wealth of information i have found here have changed decisions in gear and motivated me to learn some theory! Its just crazy. I love how this is such a community of people with the same love for bass. Here is a picture that shows just all that has changed since logging on to talkbass :D .
If you guys have anypics like this please do share.
    Cheers!

so, before talkbass, you had good gear, but you didnt play, after talkbass, you changed to greater gear, and do play. I think i prefer amp set up 'before' infact, id rather have teh olp than the modulus, just because its a sixer, if it was a 4, it would be a close call between both, but still, nice rig!!:)

I don't have any pics right now, but I can list what gear I've acquired since joining TB:
Roscoe LG-3000 (heavily influenced by TB)
FBB fretless 4 (influence from Xush before TB, but TB pushed me over the edge)
Hagstrom 8 (no TB influence...this one was all mine!:D)
Ibanez ATK 305 (another that was all mine, but TB was encouraging)
LOTS of effects (some influenced by TB, others just looked like fun)
    XWire (heavily influenced by TB)
Digital Music GCX switching (partially influenced by TB)
2 Mesa/Boogie Powerhouse Jr. cabs (on the way) (no info on these on TB, but the choice was influenced because of TB)

TB is by far THE BEST resource in the world for bass players. So much great information from so many wonderful, knowledgable people!

I havent been at Talkbass for very long, but the main thing thats changed is that i boguht an Essex bass. I never would have known these are decent basses if it wasnt for this place.

The main difference seems to be :

Before : happy with whatever gear you have

After : GAS for some other gear!!

  14. I know finding this website after a few months of playing helped me immensely in just about every aspect of bass from technique to gear. A year and a half later I'm still visiting, but it's more to answer questions than to ask them now. That's probably a good thing, and I still learn lots on the occasions when I'm looking for information about something. Definitely a top web resource for bassists.

The before and after pictures, however, would not be flattering and I haven't cut my hair or shaved in that year and a half :D

  15. Before: Guitar player...had no chance in getting into a band.

    After: Bassist...am in a band ;)

Also, I look a lot sexier now....note this pic:
