The title says it. And I am a bit ashamed to ask it.
My old 10 bucks clip-on that does not really track the low B on my bass is on the brink of falling apart and I can see a few gigs coming up where I will not need to bring a pedal board if it was not for my tuner pedal.
What alternatives are there? 19" units are out of the question.
Are there any hot looking tuners to set on top of your cab?

How about just putting the tuner pedal on top of your amp with no pedal board?

At the gig, I love the convenience of clip-on tuners. I've accumulated a collection and keep one in each of my bass cases (at least six of 'em, anyway), plus a few more at home. That said, not all clip-ons are created equal. I've had the best results with Korg clip-ons: Pitchhawk and Sledgehammer Pro. Santa recently brought me a tc Unitune Clip, and I'm impressed with that one as well.

Well, on stage I'd like to be able to tune muted.

That leaves putting a tuner pedal on top of my amp or use a clip on.
The Sledgehammer looks nice, but that thing is quite big.

  8. Korg makes the pitchblack portable if you want something to sit on your amp with a mute that isn’t a pedal. Personally I use a shure glxd wireless system and it hasn’t angreat tuner in it so hits two birds with one stone

I use the D'Addario micro tuners. Work fine, almost invisible. I tune my low B at the 12th fret octave. Around $11.

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
If you want a small hand held tuner on the cheap both Boss & Korg make affordable accurate tuners that can sit on top of your amp. I keep a hand held in my case as back up to my pedal tuner. Let your budget be your guide.

I'm still trying to get my head around "hot looking" being a criteria for a tuner purchase.

Unless you're gifted with perfect pitch I think the Snark clip-on type work pretty well. I use a TU-12/12EX before starting the gig and at each break, but keep a clip-on handy if something sounds wrong during a set - mute at the head and clip on the tuner.

Darn right you want to tune muted.

I'm a big fan of the TC Electronic PolyTune. I think it looks pretty nice too.

Another $10 tuner? Or stop being lazy and bring your pedalboard. Multiple tuners seems like a waste of money.

The TC Electronic Polytune and Unitune clip-ons track accurately, are good-looking and rugged.
