The best bass of the decade?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Margus Alviste, Dec 21, 2006.

  1. Hi, everybody! There are all kind of contests going on everywhere. I am very much interested which bass gets votes for the best bass for the decade? What would be your choice?:bassist:

I am a little confused as to what you mean by "of the decade." Did it have to be new to the world as of 1996+ or can it be a model that came out before that?

    Which decade?
  7. When you use the word THE to describe a time period, it usually places the context into the current timeframe...so in my mind at least when someone asks what the best bass of THE decade is, I presume they mean 1996 to 2006 ... and I also presume they want to learn more about the Tony Franklin Fretless Fender P released this year :D

  10. Yes, you got it right! The Bass of the decade 1996-2006! It doesn't have to be new production for the decade. Just the best best bass of the decade.
I personally like my MTD535 from year 2002. It's so far the best sounding bass I've ever played. There's a brand new Sadowsky RV5 coming within a week or so. Maybe I will change my mind after getting it. :)

    Musicman SUB!

  12. I'll second this vote, it brought the Stingray vibe to the masses at a more affordable price!!!:bassist:

Failing that, it'd be a Euro Spector 5 string - mine's the older NS5CR ,and it does me just fine!!!

Well, I'll give it a shot and try and get a few basses.

1960's: 1962 jazz bass (preferably fretless)
    1970's: Alembic Series II
    1980's: Kubicki Ex-Factor
    1990's: Fodera Yin Yang
2000's: Status Kingbass (so far, but it'd have to be something brilliant to see that one off!)

Dingwall Prima's and Z's from high end basses. ABI and ABII the more affordable Dingwall quality.

Only post when all basses available during the last decade have been tested

No just kidding, but this topic is just plain dumb.
