Two weeks ago, I bought the best of Salif Keita. I had been meaning to get some work of his for years. I finally pulled the trigger after I heard Salif Keita on Richard Bona's last album. Salif Keita is a singer and guitarist, but this is a great album for rythmically complex and funky bass lines. Bassists aren't credited, does any one know who these guys are? I'm guessing that some TB guys from France might know. I've been jamming on "Wamba," "Ignadjidje," and "Mandela." It'll take a bit longer to learn some others.

I have a couple of his albums, very good stuff. I particularly like one album I have that's a bunch of electro remixes from one of his other albums, I like it a lot.

I have a few of Salif's albums, including a couple produced by Joe Zawinul.......the bass playing on all of them is incredible
