My favorite finish is the one Rob Merril from Godsmack put on one of his basses. He took a can of flat grey spray paint and sprayed all of it except the back and front of the neck.
Call me old fashioned, but I like instruments that look like they're made of wood. That finish is gorgeous, but it doesn't make me want to play that bass.
One of the things I look for in an instrument nowadays is the aesthetic quality of the wood. I'm not as interested in "cool" finishes, unless they can help to exploit the grain patter.
Oysterman, i've seen that bass in person! Its very very cool looking! Much different than in pictures too, as is usually the case.
But, i too prefer woods!
bassnw has had this for a little while.
i really don't like the finish.
not to be a ball breaker but a while back me and another TB member were having a contest emailing the worst finishes on a bass, i though i won with the spector holoflash. he beat me with this one.
but hey if thats your thing.
i like the standard finishes.
that bass looks like it fell out of the ugly tree.
It's actually a very cool bass in person!
Doesn't beat the fretless Roscoe there though!
it's definitely, well, errr,
I still like wood grain. That one is kinda neat, but I think I would get sick of looking at it really quick.
I don't think it looks the greatest but I love the way the finish goes onto the fingerboard like that. It makes it look like the fingerboard melt into the body. Very Cool!!
The most beautiful finish I've seen recently was at a concert Friday night....it was a shiny woodgrained finish, with a PURPLE egg-shaped pickguard. Absolutely beautiful
I love Sadowsky`s 59 Burst.
Here is a pic of a G**tar with it and a quilted top... I think it looks awesome, but its a g**tar...
This bass is kinda cool, but I like it like Big Wheel..
Are we allowed to post pics of REGULAR guitars.
Absolutely not!! Where is the moderator when you need him?? J/k
and hit every branch it could on the way down
i think the marble finish is cool, its deffinetly different, i'm not sure i'd ever buy it, but i think its a very nice looking bass
and then some ugly acorns fell on it.
or maybe it got run over by the 18 wheel ugly truck, it's hard to tell.
Here's another shot of the marble Roscoe:
