For Christmas I'm getting my Dad the Greatest hits of the Doors. But they have 2 greatest hits cd's.Which one has the longest version of "light my fire" because my Dad really likes the longer version but I don't know which one has it.And also,if you can't remember the name of the cd,tell me exactly what the cover looks like. This is URGENT because I'm buying him the CD in a few hours. Thanks,I know you guys will help.
Just check out some online vendors like www.cdnow.com and compare the tracklists. Doors : Best Of The Doors (Enhanced) (Remastered) 2. Light My Fire Doors 7:07 Doors : Very Best Of The Doors No track time listing
i have one called "13", which is pretty much their 13 singles...not sure if you can get it in CD form, as i have it in vinyl...anywho, it has the full version, and it's great!
13 is not available on cd...I think(I also have that album on vinyl). I have The Best Of The Doors...the one JMX mentioned(7:05 version of "Light My Fire"). The cover is a black/white shot of a shirtless Jim Morrison. $21.99 @www.towerrecords.com Fire up the lava lamp...
Dont worry, all currently available Doors albums and compilations have the long version of 'Light My Fire' I think the only current official Doors release that would contain the single version would be on the re-issued single itself. 13 was never released on CD. The best Doors compilation out is 'The Best Of', it is way better then 'Greatest Hits'. Jim
I would go for the double disk set if you can afford it (not sure which one that is) cause the single disk one, while having the full version of Light My Fire, only has about a 7 minute long version of "The End".
Argh, yeah, the mutilated version from the 'Apocalypse Now' soundtrack. All the best parts of the song are missing! The Doors have recently re-issued all Doors albums and remastered them, including the 'Best Of' and 'Greatest Hits'. Im pretty sure both have the full version of 'the end'. The new remastered versions are incredibly better then the original. There is even extra lyrics on 'Break On Through' and 'The End' that were censored on the original release, and things such as Jims 'I gotta go out with these people and get f***ked up...' speech in 'Five To One' which used to be basically inaudible is now really clear. They did a great job. Jim
