Well I like the bass...didn't bond with it at first. Probably due to the rough condition. Thought about selling it. But I do dig the neck...total butter. Smooth and a great size.

Figured I could just do a refin myself and have some fun. Here is the original with a silver and white version. The pickguard was painted before, so I'll sand it and apply a piece of my art, shellac it and have my own one of a kind art bass. I'm not worried about doing nitro or anything like that. I will probably spray and seal it myself.

With all the chrome and black hardware, silver seems like the best choice. I'm going to go find something cool later when I run errands. I'm going to sand the blue down a little and use it as a primer base. This project isn't about restoration ( I have no idea what the original color was). It's about something fun to play.

Well this will be the last time I ever buy something that has been "REFIN'd"( Iknew it was rough when I purchased it).
Who the hell sprayed this? I think the body is some kind of partical board or something...can't see any grain or anything with all the paint heaped on this.
    What a mess!
I'm going to sand the blue coat down and use it as primer. I'm picking up the silver tomorrow.

The body was black with a white guard. I have soaked the guard and some of the paint has peeled off. The body has been sanded smooth and all the rough spots have been removed and the oversprays are gone.

I will post pics when the body is hung to paint. I think I'm going with silver or silver metallic. It all depends on what I find at the local store.

I liked the sound of this better than the Foundation that I sold. The minis have enough spank to sound like a jazz...the neck PU is in that sweet "P" spot.

I have been holding off due to the rain and humidity. I need to spray the pickguard first with adhesive, then to shellac it. As soon as the weather gets a little better I'll be a sprayin fool.

Wow did I get snookered for time this week. The body is painted and dry. The pickguard came out awesome!

Here is a pic with the stuff sitting in the case. I will be putting it back together tomorrow.

Looking good! I actually dug the "original" lake placid blue (one of my favorite bass colors), but this works very well too. I think the neck is the standout, love the rosewood/pearl combo.

Will you send us some audio samples when it's finished? I'm curious about the sound of a jazz bass with a Eb-3 pickup.

They aren't EB-3 pickups. They are mini-humbuckers...the neck solo'd is a funky P sound. Different beast all together. The blue wasn't Lake Placid...it just looks that way cause of my camera. Believe me I'm way happier with this setup...I'll probably sticker it up with some local fun stuff.

    That turned out beautiful!

Just a suggestion...paint the headstock to match!!!

As a man of design myself, I have to say I really really dig the pickguard. Nice work, man!
