Se-eh-eh-exy. My pants are tingly right now.
And it plays even better than it looks!! Smooth as butter
THanks, don’t have any of that here but appreciate the reply.
Well guys, time for me to turn my #157 back in. I sold my GLJ today. Mixed feelings as it was the first bass I bought but I really was not using it and still prefer my Rickys. Thanks and enjoy yours!
Beautiful!! This is seafoam green??
Yes it is. I sent a picture of a shade of seafoam I liked to MJT, and the replicated it perfectly on this Jazz. It's almost Toas turquoise.
Got the one on the left last night. 2017 USA. On the right is my '98 CIJ. I'm not liking the Geddy sig bridge as the string spacing is slightly off and I thought the inlays were crooked! I have a spare Badass II to swap it out for. I also have some Fender 70's tuners to replace the reverse tuners. That should be done in the coming week while I look for an amalgamation pickguard.
I have the finish completely off the back of the neck on the CIJ and I rubbed in some tung oil. I was surprised to find the oil finish on the USA to be a very narrow strip along the skunk stripe. USA neck is a bit beefier but it wasn't at all as big as what I was expecting.
New strings and set up for my 06 CIJ Geddy.
I really like the mod I did in having the option of putting the single coils in series/parallel. Highly recommend!
NBD GEDDY LEE JAZZ!! Can I join?
As long as you bring the other two... .
For me, the GL is the finest Fender Jazz.
I had a couple of other GL Jazzes, but this USA GL is the best I've had.
Best until the next one? Or does it stay?
This one is sticking around.
So much for that. Less than a month (thankfully) and I've got to return my USA Glee for a replacement. The binding has a fret peeking through.
Relinquishing my OCD crown to @nattiep... not sure if I would have even noticed that... good eye!
One of few basses I've owned and not wanted to change something about it. Live my geddy. Loved the Sweetwater gallery that I got with it too
How stable is the neck on your '98? I believe mine is either a '98 or '99 and I swear if the wind blows on it it will need to be tweaked. No matter what strings are on it. DR's, Rotos, D'Addarios, GHS But I still love it. I bought it new in 2000 and the only thing I've done to it is put the old style of Dunlop Strap Locks on it and sand the tiniest bit of finish off the back of the neck.
"Thank you very kindly! Good night!"
I'm picturing the two of you driving down the road, with the GL sticking it's head(stock) out the window, enjoying the 'breeze'...
