Saw the Hold Steady in Baltimore. AMAZING SHOW! It was kind of spur of the moment to go since I had other plans at the time before my friend told me he had bought me a ticket a couple weeks earlier. I always liked this band, but after the show can safely say they are one of my favorites now. And they have their new album coming out in a few weeks. I'm thoroughly excited. Thank God I decided to go to that concert. Further reason why current music holds its own to the past. If you do not know this band here are some songs you should listen to. And if they are coming to your town SEE THEM http://youtube.com/watch?v=OCZB3nSoNbU http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Cem1ME-OvQ&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=K0eDpsROSvQ
I had never heard them before, btu they played our spring concert and I was very impressed. It was a great time with great music to get out and dance to.
I'm late to the party on these guys, having just started listening to them a couple months ago, but I'm really impressed so far. (I have Boys and Girls..., as well as Separation Sunday.) I haven't been this excited about a band in a while. Unfortunately, their next Chicago show is part of a large festival (Pitchfork), and I'm not sure I'm going to make it.
I was at Pitchfork last year and highly recommend it! I saw the Hold Steady on the Boys and Girls tour and they killed it. Very good show.
Thanks, I'm sure it'll be very good--but as I slouch into old-punk-rocker-fart-dom, it's harder for me to get motivated when I don't know most of the bands (though that hasn't stopped me from hitting SXSW), and tickets are going fast. I'd rather see them do a full set. I may still go to Pitchfork, though.
