This may be a slightly controversial post, so I'm going to preface this by saying I do *not* endorse the piracy of copyrighted music.
A few years ago, I found this amazing website called Funk My Soul - A collection of Soul Funk R'n'B Albums with hundreds of great soul/R&B/funk albums from the 60s to the 80s, detailed album descriptions, plenty of reviews, an active community, and download links for all the music (free and paid downloads). Its hosted out of Corfu, Greece, where I guess copyright laws are pretty relaxed. I've been poring over this site every day since I found it, and its a never ending source of great music, from classic albums to obscure, rare gems. Through this site, I've stumbled upon so much amazing music (and so many great basslines!) I wouldn't have heard otherwise, so I thought I'd share it with the TB family! Heres some of my favorite "obscure" soul records from this site:

Lou Ragland Is The Conveyer (Understand Each Other) - Lou Ragland
    People Music - Fatback Band
Wake Up Everybody - Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
    Sweet Magic - Lee McDonald
Give Me Your Love - The Sisters Love

If you find other great records, please add them to this thread! Hope you dig the site :)

I might own the holy grail of Soul albums, in Donny Hathaway’s Live record...

    Could be... :)
