Thanks I’ve checked the serial number I forgot the SR in my description . It’s actually a 1995 built in the Cort factory. I did buy it price just too good. I’ll post pics when I get it.

I don't remember if I've ever applied to this club but here are my two current Ibanez:

    Ibanez Roadster RS-840 BK

    Ibanez ATK300 NT

    And I have a third one ordered, a SRH505F.

But those new headless just seem so tasty...

I mentioned the purchase one other time but never followed up on it, so here goes...

In late 2019, I ordered a new SoundGear bass from my FAVORITE on-line dealer... ZZounds.com.

After much debate, I purchased an SG-2405 Premium in Caribbean Green (more aqua than green).

In do not believe I’ve EVER played a bass than sounded and felt this good, and I’ve been playing them around 20 years now!

Whether in active or passive mode, this thing sounds amazing, and is so freakin easy to play!!!

For right at $1,800.00, it is EASILY the beat bass guitar that I’ve EVER owned!!!

It needs some TLC but I just picked up a pretty cool 1989 Ibanez EX405. It’s super light and sounds pretty good.

  5. That is super cool! I wasn’t aware Ibanez made a double P setup, thought that was kind of a B.C. Rich thing.

  8. EX is a great series & the double split-coils is a great configuration. I can't understand why it hasn't been more popular.
However, all of the Ibanez basses with MK1 Bartolini pickups are split-coil pickups, so close, but not quite, LOL!

Just bought a second hand SRH505F on Reverb. I’m not wild on the narrow string spacing Ibanez continues to use on their 5 strings, but I’ve been itching for a fretless. I’m already considering taking it to Mo’s Shop in Redlands, CA to have it routed for magnetic pickups, too.

Did you consider the SRF705 Portamento? It's got the piezo and two magnetic pickups.

I have the SRH500F and I love it for its simplicity and great tone. I sort of see it as a niche bass with a distinct sound that's sort of between an upright and an electric fretless. I don't know how it'll sound with magnetic pickups. It might not sound like the Portamento since the SRH series has chambered bodied (though as far as I know, f-holes don't make much difference).

    Ouch...

My Portamento has been gathering dust eversince I got the Aerium despite mine is the fretted one, thus made me gassing for a fretless Aerium cause the Aerium tone is so delicioso for what they are...

Yeah, looked at it for half a second and ran because those MK1 pickups are pure trash. I owned an early 2000s SR506 and never got a good tone from it because of those awful (and stupidly sized) pickups. Also, the SRH is (semi) hollow.
It’s a relatively inexpensive bass, and Mo is an incredibly skilled professional.

Also, I’ll be playing it a while before making any decisions.

I will be joining this club officially later this week! Got a sweet deal on a brand new 2020 model that I couldn't refuse, so now I'm just waiting for the tracking info so I can figure out when it will be arriving. I'll be sure to check back with pictures once it arrives.
