I'm in, too. For three years now a Promethean 5110 is the amp I use most. I have three bands and help out a lot in some side-projects. Lots of studio / recording, too. I had a SWR Redhead that I used most, but this one went up in smoke after about 18 years of heavy gigging. The Redhead was a fine amp, but it was heavy, so now I was looking for a lightweight combo with some balls. The owner of my "mom-and-pop-music shop" showed me the Promethean 5110 and told me not to buy a Tecamp Puma 500 combo. In my aerea he is a well known bassman, too, and he knows about the needs of a working musician. So he recommendet to get me a Promethean 5110 as he made real good experiences with his own. He ordered one, and what can I say, I fell in love with the amp. I love this little combo, because it gives me a loud, light and versatile sound that is useable in any setting. I have three main bands, and I have different fullstacks in every one of them. But the Promethean is the amp for small, bar-sized gigs, for rehearshalls, for sessions and so on. I use it as my practise-amp in my living room a lot. I love the range of sounds I can get with this nice little combo. From vintage to modern, December last year I used it in a cover band for some real heavy metal, using a Visual Sound "Jeckyll and Hyde"-pedal in front of it. In the overdrive-setting with the bass boost engaged, the "Yeckyll and Hyde" made that thing roar like an overdriven Ampeg-fullstack. Oh, btw, did I tell you that I love the Promethean 5110? Ciao Uwe Oh, I forgot, pictures will follow as soon as possible.
Here's my P5110! Had it for a few years now and I still love it. That's an old photo, I've now got 4 ACG Custom Basses, really need to get a new family photo... Eude
I've got a P3115 as my playing out amp. It started as my "all-things" amp until I got my Berg HS410. But, the Berg is too big to take with me when we play out, so the Promethean gets weekly gig duties. When I purchased my Promethean, it was a choice between the P3115 and a really nice little Ampeg combo. Both beat out the similarly sized Fender Rumble in tone. The P3115 and Ampeg were quite close sound-wise, but the Promethean won out on weight. Don't regret the purchase in the slightest...a really great little combo, that I wish more folks knew was out there.
^ That's what this club is for! Post a pic, get a number! Numbers so far: 1. Salamenster (I hope that it is normal that the founder takes #1? If not, please correct me.) 2. StrangerDanger 3. 5port 4. Dorknowitzki 5. eude
My P5110 is awesome. Had it for 3 years or so now. Haven't ever bothered to take pictures of it, though. It's great by itself for smaller gigs. And when I played a gig with flaky power, where my SVT 2 Pro kept going into Standby, I just switched over to my Promethean head running into my Aguilar cab stack, with a Sansamp BDDI in front of the Promethean for some SVT emulation and it brought the THUNDER!
I'm a very happy owner of a P5110 Combo and P110c Extension cab. Thanks to StuartV and a couple others for their help and advice. A picture will be coming and I'd like to have a number as well, Lee......
