All sorts of stories are flying around at the moment: three explosions on buses; the entire tube network has been shut down etc...

The BBC news website is reporting that "power surges" are responsible for the "explosions" on the underground but this doesn't explain the reports of explosions on the buses.

My office is currently checking the whereabouts of all staff and all appointments and trips out have been cancelled.

5Live says that the follow is confirmed and has happened:

    1) The whole tube network has been shut down
    2) There were explosions at Old Gate, Liverpool LS, Kings Cross and Edgeware Road.
    3) All the tube stations are cordoned off.
    4) A bus has exploded at Tavestock place [spelling].
    5) The Ambulance service has stopped taking 'non-emergency' calls.
    6) The London mobile phone network has been shut down.

  7. So far the BBC NBews 24 has said there have 3 explosions on buses - they showed one bus and it looked awful - and there have been a couple of tings on the tube - one explosion for sure - they said it was a power surge but that sounds supicious - BBC website is down due to traffic - switch on a telly if you can

Wow, that doesn't sound good at all.

Best wishes to all our pals over in the UK.

I hope your friends and relatives are okay.

I sometimes post a lot of wisecracks about the "monarchists across the pond", but when it comes right down to it, you're just like I am.

My g/f's been in the UK for almost a year now, and just came back state-side about two months ago.

I lost a good friend at the WTC, and I hope to God this isn't one of those coordinated terrorist things.

My hopes and prayers are with you, brothers and sisters.

This is all getting very, very crazy.... everything is far too coordinated to not be something terrorist-related.

  18. I heard on CNN from a BBC up to 9 explosions. Probable coordinated attack. Best wishes to all. On behalf of America, We stand with you. I hope that Pres. Bush will follow me up on this. (I don't like Ol' Bush that much, but he speaks for our country, and sometimes that ain't a good thing.) I really hope that everyone is OK. I feel the emptiness of our own attack. just reported 6 underground explosions, 3 buses. man this sucks. Can't we all just get along.
