the bass is most likely about 1/2 way across the room...

  3. ill walk into the audience and the bass is non existant... we are talking 30+ feet out :bawl:

  4. You'll need BFM for this one, he IS the horn man {almost sounded dirty}.

If that's the case, how can you get lows when you mic a cabinet?

    (hint: it's not the case)

Right. The distance thing is a myth. If it isn't throwing bass right in front of it, going 30 feet away from it isn't going to make it sound louder.

  8. jimmy i know this is ot but whats with james brown and the devo hat?

    but do i get a dedicate sub(s)

Not much. I had a James Brown doll and a Devo hat I wanted to display, and not much shelf space, so I put the Devo hat on JB and it seemed like a natural pairing.

BTW, all new Devo album---first in 20 years---coming this fall!

When he dances does the hat stay on?

  11. Sorry, Waaayy off topic but doesn't that James brown doll with the Devo hat reminid anyone of that little voodoo statue with the big teeth that comes to life and terrorizes Karen Black in the 70's classic "Trilogy of Terror"?
Or maybe it's just me :D

Hat stays on, never saw that movie.

Unclejam, I was hoping some others would chime in here, but I think your rig is big enough without a sub. Plus you'd need an amp and crossover for the sub. To be honest, bro, I think it's time you consider a different rig.

Have you tried backing off the horns a bit. My guess is the bass is there, but with two big horn-mounted compression drivers in the rig, the sound isn't balanced.

Is that an EQ in the rack? Do you have control over the mid/high horns?

  14. Are the cabinets in phase?

Call me crazy but maybe it's because you're using two PA tops instead of a bass rig? ;)Neither of those cabs is a fullrange PA cab - you've got a horn loaded midbass driver and a horn loaded compression tweeter. Probably pretty strong down to 100Hz but nothing below there.

Sorry my friend. Just because those cabs are big, that doesn't mean that they were designed to produce low frequencies. Those are PA mids and highs cabs. You will need to start over with speakers or at least get a bass cab (15" or 18" maybe) to go under one of those....... other...... things. Best of luck to you!

Those are the 15" SUNN PA horns aren't they? What would happen if a guy hung a pair of 3015LF's in there?

If that didn't work then pull the horns out and build a new cab for the 3015LF and sit the horns atop in their own little cab. BOB
