So my wife convinced me to buy her a new house (NHD, yay!), and lo, it came to pass that there occurred a Great Unloading of Gear. All told, five basses went out the door, and in their place...retractable screen doors, electrician's fees, septic tank work. The last sale (I awoke to the Reverb email this morning) kind of hurt, in a "what? I still had that posted for sale?" way, so I find myself wanting to stand firm for a while with seven basses that I really love. That being said, I don't intend to die (whenever that shall be) with seven basses in my possession, and since everybody loves a poll, I put this to the community: which bass would you sell next?
Since you asked, I'd sell them all. The one I dislike least is the SR, but it's still a string short.
I would sell them all except for: The '74 P bass, unless it weighs too much. The Ric 4003 S, because I think the 4003 with big inlays and binding looks too "busy." The Mustang which appears to be refinished so you may not receive more money than what it's worth to you.
Sometimes, there is nothing worse than needing to be a responsible adult. Good on your looking-after your family.
I picked the Rob Allen... good luck with everything! That reflection on the pic is cool, that would make an awesome finish... Cheers!
I voted Stingray, only because I don't particularly like them (well made, just not my thing). Having said that, perhaps we should have a thread titled: "Which bass would you like to be buried with?"
I’d be keeping all four Fenders. Not just because they are Fenders. Each is a unique example of some of their most iconic instruments. All four look like lifers to me.
