This guy has a ton of video reviews of basses from the $99.00 Dr. Tech on up. Some are done in the music store, some at home.
I've seen a few of his reviews. Don't think I have ever seem him give a thumbs down to any that he was playing. I guess that would be hard to do when playing one in a store though.
Seems like a really nice guy but he makes no effort to record with any sound quality. The bass is being picked up by the camera mic in his house or sometimes in guitar center like the above video which is even worse. His reviews are as useful as a blog with pictures.
I see Earl quite a bit-he goes to the GC I frequent. I talk to him a lot whenever we see each other, even gave me a shout-out on one of his videos! Very nice guy and he knows his basses. To answer a question above, he reviews basses that are decent to begin with so he doesn't normally give a thumbs down unless it's really warranted, it's really not worth the video reviewing bad ones after all but the ones that viewers might be interested in. We have talked about the other basses he did try but didn't like so his reviews are very fair and gives a good idea of what to expect. Cool guy and I like his videos.
i used to watch that guy "this is a good bass. drop a preamp in there, this is a good bass. welcome to the maxproud channel" i always wondered what he did for a living
No doubt - also love the channel and Earl's reviews. He must have $30k though tied up in inexpensive basses!
Exactly the reason why I first watched his videos. He reviewed the Sterling Sub bass which I was interested in at the time. His price range is around mine too so I find it very useful to get some initial feedback on basses.
