I just got back from GC where I tried out the new BassPODxt. I was very impressed. It seems bass fx units are just getting better and better. I like this more than any other unit I've tried (Boss GT6B, BassPOD [huge impovement], Korg PX4B, Digitech BNX3). The models sound very good, their as close as I've heard to the real thing out of an FX box. Even if they aren't perfect replicas of the real amps they all sound very nice. I had the unit going through a poweramp into an Ampeg 4x10 cab so I didn't bother with the cab models. On to the FX. WOW. With any fx unit their are always some that you'll never use, but there are lots (over 50) to choose from. Many great distortions, chorus's, flanges, and more. Even the fretless sim isn't bad, though it's no substitute for a real fretless. There are lots of synths as well, and they all track very well. There are many to choose from but most give you gritty/ dirty type synth sounds. And finnaly my fav the Auto Wah. I loved it. far better than any digital auto wah I've tried. Really funky IMHO. I only played around with it for about an hour so I didn't get into alot of tweeking. I'm sure I only touched the surface of what this unit can do. I'm definatly going to get one soon. The only drawback is the price. $400 and $700 for the rackmount version, and another $260 for the footcontroller. Not cheap but as I always say you get what you pay for. If your serious about having a modeler with great tone and great FX then spend the cash ou won't be disappointed. Check out Line6s website for all the info. You can even download the manual. But even more importantly go to your local shop and try it yourself.
