hey gang, a little shameless self promotion. The New CD is almost ready. I just got the artwork proofs back today. They should be ready to ship within the month. www.bassically.net has one of the tunes, "The Hunter" with the wonderful sax of Paul McCandless as its featured download of the month. Joe Gallant, bassist, composer and arranger extrodinaire (The Illuminati Orchestra) says of the pre-release copy I sent him: Mike
Hi Mike, I'm looking forward to the release of your CD. I love "Little Sister". Best of luck to you. Xavier (later edited) I just heard "The Hunter". Wow! Great stuff.
I am expecting delivery of the CD's Christmas week. Ready to ship immediately after that. Thanks so much for your interest Mike
Mike, looking forward to hearing the CD - just off to Bassically to have a listen to the clip now... Steve www.steve-lawson.co.uk
That's OK, I went to your MP3 site (which I've visited before) and had another listen to the tunes on there - good stuff! good luck with the CD - self produced stuff is a tricky way to go, but having done it now, I'm not sure I'd want to be stuck with the restrictions and politics of having a record deal... cheers Steve
OK, delivery is imminent! The new web site is up at www.michaeldimin.com - special bundle price on the book and CD together. I am taking orders, baby! Check out what some people are saying about it. Mike
No, all of the tracks were laid down before I got the Heir. I would not hesitate to record with it. I have laid down some of my students tracks with it. It sounds nice in the mix, especially if you run it through a tube preamp. Even with an active bass, I like to record passive. Active is great live. Live I run the Heir through a Fodera preamp, just to boost the gain and warm up the bottom end a bit. I just find that recording active is a bit noisy and the signal levels can become a bit unwieldy. I have a deal at my site, buy both my book and CD and save $5.00 - can't beat it! Bass Alone in San Diego, who already carries my book, will also be carrying the CD. Mike
