The New GK MBE-II Speakers Look Great!!!

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Joe Louvar, Aug 15, 2012.

  1. The new GK MBE-II cabinets aren’t showing on the GK website yet but they’re listed on Amazon and they look really nice, lightweight and very affordable.

You are not getting the new website.
  3. Thanks Bob. I guess I'm having problems finding it. The main GK webpage I’ve been watching is http://www.gallien-krueger.com/ And I’ve been clicking on “products” and then “cabinets” http://www.gallien-krueger.com/products/cabinets/ and only the Neo cabs are shown, no RB’s, MBE-II‘s, etc?

But I did find the new GK MBE-II cabinets listed on Amazon with pictures.

    For example ~

    PS - I’m sending you a PM.

Yea the new cabs were on the site a week or so ago but now I am only seeing the NEO cabs.

I am interested to see how much they will be here in Canada at L&M, I would love to pair them up with my new (used) MB Fusion.
  5. yep, both the Neo and RB cabs were on the site last week - but, I didn't see the new MBE-II cabs. The site is still in the process of updating so they should be on the site soon - or already and I have an old link? Anyway, yeah two 115MBE-II cabs with your MB Fusion amp would be awesome or the 212MBE-IIs, 410MBE-IIs and etc.

Yea I am looking at the 115's, the Fusion has surpassed my expectations for sure, I originally got it as a back up for my GB Shuttle 9.0 but is has quickly became my main amp.
  7. I’ve used a GB Shuttle 6.0 once and it was a really nice amp - different than GK amps but still nice. Anyway, yeah I think two 115MBE-II cabs or two 212MBE-II/8 cabs would be ideal for the MB500 and your MB Fusion amp. And I think two 410MBE-II/8 cabs would be ideal for the MB800 and the new MBFusion800 amp coming soon and I think the MB200 paired with the new 210MBE-II will be sweet too.

quick question. i have a MB 500 amp paired with a 210 MBE (8 ohm) cab. will there be any issues (either sound-wise or stacking) adding a 210 MBE-II (8 ohm) to this setup?

    thanks in advance
  9. No problems at all...you getting all power from the head (500w/4ohm). ;)
  10. I also have a quick question: can a powered cab be used with the MicroBass combos? Adding a 2x12 powered speaker to one would be all I'd ever need. Thanks.
  11. The GK MBP cabinets are designed to work the new GK MB-II combo amps and GK doesn’t recommend anything else.
  12. good question.

  13. Any reviews for any of these cabs in particular? They are pretty affordable and I'm looking for a solid 2x10 to pair with an Ampeg Portaflex 500 (an alternate to the Portaflex cabs).

    Bump :bassist:
  16. Any of the MBE II cabs? I have the MBE II NEO 212 and love it. Fifty pounds, 600 watts @ 8 ohms, tweeter, and it can be bi-amped if you so desire. I use a GK MB500 Fusion with mine. East to move and sounds My-T-Fine. Since this thread is about 3 years old you should find several posts on the forums on these cabs.
  17. I have the earlier "discontinued" 350/500w NEO MB210-II and the discontinued MBE210-II.

I am used to a 1001RBII head going through vented RBH cabs. The MB ported cabs were something to get used to. On the bassy boomy side. After I figured out the EQ they aren't bad.

While we're on it, GK discontinued the MBE210-II with no notice or explanation. Now, the whole NEO MBE-II series is gone, replaced by the low priced ceramic CX series.

Also, on the MB210-II combo, GK changed the speakers from NEO to those crappy ceramic CX speakers and the max power rating changed to 350w. As always, no heads up and they didn't change it's name. Why isn't the 350w version named the CX210 combo or something to distinguish between the 500w NEO and 350w ceramic version?

I took my cabs apart to make sure I had the correct speakers.
  18. Out of curiosity, how did you remove the front grill? Is it just a matter of hooking some thin tool behind it and popping off that industrial strength Velcro? I just picked up a 410MBE-II and was interested in checking out the internal construction, but I gave up when I had doubts about how the grill was attached...
  19. Just remove the two top corners and gradually pull on the GK emblem. The emblem is bolted though the wood grill in three places and is secured with nuts. You'll hack up the cab if you try to pry it with something. The cab's lip is too high.
