I have two, soon to be three. Although eventually I would like a collection of about 5 or 6 to cover pretty much all the tones that I want.

5 basses - Gibson Ripper, Gibson RD Artist, Univox Lucy, Univox Hi-Flier, Danelectro Rumor

6 guitars - Yamaha Acoustic, Univox Hi-Flier, Univox LP Copy, Gibson SG, Fender Strat, Univox 335 copy

They just multiply over the years
  7. 3 Basses.

    A 77 P bass (Natural)
A 90 Fretless Jazz Bass (Black)
A 01 Peavey Milestone III (My beloved first bass) (White)

    1 Sax.

A Juipter 747 Tennor (Black and Gold)
  8. I have six, and there is a reason for every one.
    fender precision (passive four string)
MTD kingston (passive five string 35" scale)
    Squire bronco (short scale)
    Home made fretless
Maverick S-4 Custom Shop (active four string)
Marlin Sidewinder (the first bass i ever owned!)
Each one is used for different styles and has a different sound. I do not believe that one bass can do everything IMO. I would rather have several basses that each did a different sound well, than one that did lots of sounds badly....

Two basses ( fretted NS-2A and fretless Jazz ), a Chapman Stick, getting a 55-02 sort of soon, have a Strat, a Hamer archtop, a Taylor 12-string, an acoustic 6-string, a mandolin,a couple of keyboards, some congas and bongos, more amps than you can shake a tube at and I still need more

    Maybe I have a problem
or maybe I'm okay after all.

    2. One is an MTD 535, the other is a Sadowsky Tokyo RJ5. I'd own more, but I can think of better things to do with my money at this time. I'm not a professional (or even amateur!) bassist, just a hobbiest I guess (only one gig a month, on average).
  14. 22?! Wowsers. Seems you've got most beat here, including me. I've got 3.

I need to save threads like this to show to the wife. "See honey? Everyone else has more than me. It's not fair" [throws tantrum]

I'm hovering around 21 right now, but am working my way back down. I'm sure there are lots of folks out there with way more.

I think it's a rule though, that if you have that many you gots to have pictures! Show 'em!

Also depends on what you own. 20 high-end basses might be a little harder to come by than 20 Essex. But I guess you could still be having as much fun.

2... both 5 strings, 1 with and 1 without frets.

I need an URB (inexpensive yet playable... good chinese or american ply) and I'll be set.
  19. 2, but I want more
