Not that it was an Option, but on my 1B I changed the pickups for Dimarzio Relentless Billy Sheehan pickups and it sounds amazing
I am a Ric guy but figured it was time to try something else again. I knew I wanted an active bass for something different from my Rics. I have tried Fenders and EBMMs. They are just not my thing for a variety of reasons. Part of it being I think they are pretty plain looking. Meh.
I started going through our local dealer's inventory to see what they had for basses. Low and behold I stumbled onto a Jackson X CBXDX IV in Rocket Red. Online said they had it in stock. I know little to nothing about Jackson basses. From what I can tell this is almost Jackson's take on a Rickenbacker. In fact, the bridge is called a Bass Bacher IV hardtail bridge. Cute. The shark fin fret board markers are another tell tale sign, although I have seen them on other Jackson basses.
The dealer had a gloss black on display. I played it and loved the feel but it looked wayyyy to close to a Ric Jetglo for my taste. I asked them to see if they could find the Rocket Red. Which they did in their warehouse. Long story short, I am now the proud owner of a Jackson Concert series bass! Digging it a lot so far. Pic is from when I was trying it out at the store.

What the..... Jackson doesn't even show that color option on their website. Where did you find that? (P.S. I have 2 Ric Firelgos.)
I think it is a GC or MF exclusive only, like the JS1M p-bass that is not in the website.

Picked up this Futura EX. It's a 1993. I never noticed that this is an offset body till now! I also thought it was interesting how some of these entry Professionals like the EX or STD get the pearl dots but others white. Anyway, I bought a Dimarzio Model P to put in it. Stock is okay but usually I like to add a slightly better neck for these Jackson PJ basses and keep the stock bridge.

not too many models were made with that "extra" piece that is painted ( or not ) that sticks into the body like that.

My full review of the Jackson Concert CBXNT DX IV is live! This bass is proof you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Awesome bass.
I just watched the video.
I'd love to have one but Jackson doesn't seem make a left handed version.
you know... all the banter about the looks for the past couple years and how people rejected it so much would not have happened even if, like this video, it sounded good if 2 things occurred.
1: like all the rest of the basses over the past 10 years when D.E. was getting paid to say it was the greatest thing in the world.
