Great find! Had one of these with a Rosewood and natural finish back in the late 70s. I think it was a '76. With a jazz pickup installed. Sold it to help pay for the wedding. Absolute fool I was. The bass and she are both gone. Would pay dearly to get her back. The bass...

Thanks! It’s custom, but not a slab. I made it myself, out of wormy chestnut from a 100-year-old barn. She’s my baby!

    Beautiful piece. Great craftsmanship.
Lends new meaning to the word "Mojo". Wormwood too, for that matter.
    "Relic". Stop me anytime.

Love it, but how does it feel?

  12. Guys, I'd like to put a gold anodized pickguard on my Am. Pro. P bass body (with all other vintage stuff).
I know that 9 out of the 10 holes on that pickguard (I'm talking of the '57 model... the one on the MIM P bass special is difficult to find and I don't whether the holes diameter fits that of the standard MIA CTS pots' shafts) will align with the existing holes.
However, one extra hole shall be drilled...
Do you know which is the drill bit to be used for this purpose and that of the drill bit to be used for drilling the holes for the thumbrest and asthray covers?

  13. Does the body wood type ... ehm ... have any impact on the instrument's tone ?

Ohhh guys, I feel like a traitor. But I recently found (and purchased) the antidote to MIJ Fender Precision Bass GAS. It’s called an MIJ Sadowsky. Bad news: it’s considerably more expensive on a per-unit basis.

    Heaven help me...

#6909. Just to reiterate, one’s member number is just the number of the post in which one asks for a number.

It has a nice surface, despite how it looks. I filled the cavities with epoxy and coffee grounds, sanded smooth, and finished with Danish oil. It’s very light, too!

I think the neck and electronics are more important on that front, but it is nice and resonant when unplugged.
