    The strings I picked up aren't even close to what I usually use, so it's floppy. It's a .130, I normally use a .145t.

Until I can find strings that are a good match, I'm stuck with what will work without breakage while winding at this point.

Followup (08/17): I had adjusted the trussrod yesterday, but really dialed in the setup today. Big difference. The B definitely came more in focus. Good deal.

Awesome paint job! You might want to try the Dunlop Super bright Marcus Miller strings...They are pretty high tension. I have them on my girlfriends warmoth 32" and perfect tension. I had light strings on it first and they were way too floppy.

  3. Does Warmoth make a 5 string 32" neck/body?

no, just 4. It would be cool though..Just seems the higher the tension string you can get for shorter scales the better ..Prob hard to find the right tension B string for the 32" I imagine.

Interesting. I didn't know he made a 32", but for a fretless, that's not really a big stretch of the imagination to build. Does it have side dot markers?
Yah gotta like Wishbass for what it is... Or not. It's pretty polar on here about these.

I searched high and low. I couldn't find anything new available from a branded name manufacturer. Custom/Boutique or bust at this point, it would seem.

It's funny, too - Rondo offers just about every option under the sun for 5 strings, save for a 32" model.

    There is a 33" ibanez 5, the btb33

  13. They probably think that's a tad short for an effective low-B string.

I just happen to have a couple truss rods for 32" necks just waiting for a project, lol. PM me if you're interested in a custom build...

Seems that 5-string necks that would fit a standard size 4-string body would be a hit.

In that case, I guess it would be a situation where you cut 5 slots onto a standard P bass width nut ( 1 5/8" ), and find a bridge that would squeeze 5 strings into the space of 4. I'm suspect we're not breaking new ground here. Now to go find a bridge (other than the individual bullet shaped bridges) that would fit...

    I was thinking a wider neck.. or is 1 5/8" standard 5-string?

Me too, initially. But then I thought - what about a really narrow spaced five string?
A standard 5 string bridge has a string width of 2 7/8" (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please), and a standard 4 string has a string width of 2 3/8" to 2 1/2" (again correct me if I'm wrong, please).
So if you found a 5 string bridge with a 2 1/2" string width you could be in business...

NMSBD - so... well ... Doing a George Washington thing here . . . I bought the 32" Wishbass on Ebay.
Just retrieved it from the shredded box that Fed Ex dropped off (or threw down. . . can't tell).
    Having fun!
