Ok here it is! A great alternative to discussing mockumentaries in the documentary thread. I love all the ones with Chris Guest from This is Spinal Tap to A Mighty Wind. Great stuff!! Anyone know any other good ones besides the two above plus Waiting for Guffman and Best of Show?

Spinal Tap was the greatest. I mean, how much cooler could sex, drugs, and rock an roll be? Oh, no! Don't even look at that guitar. I don't even touch that one.

I would call it a "rockumentary" if you will...

  4. that spelling bee doc was FUNNEY! :D :D

  5. Back in highschool I "starred" in a film project mockumentary about a fake band. I was the armless drummer. I don't even have a copy anymore, but I remember calling Def Leppard's drummer out to lose an extra arm and battle me in a drum off.

Waiting For Guffman is really funny.

Saucey Jack would have been a good name. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and I recomend "Uncle Saddam". Just like I did in the other thread.

BTW, why is the thread name in quotes?

Because I was quoting this guy that said "the official mockumentary thread" the other day at the grocery store...I just wanted to be clear that it wasn't a paraphrase.

  8. Because the phrase "official mockumentary thread" comes up quite often in the grocery stores of Waco TX. :D

best mockumentary ever : Drop Dead Gorgeous.

the best part of the whole thing was where the bitchy girl's talent was ballroom dancing with a lifesized jesus (bleeding on a cross of course).
damn, i can't remember what song she was singing :meh:

Other than ones already mentioned "Hands on a Hard Body" is a great one. I know it sounds like porn, but it's a mockumentary about a contest in Texas to win a pickup truck. Very fun...make bets once you meet the contestants!

Hands on a Hardbody is a legitimate documentary...it's not a mockumentary. It's been mentioned in the documentary thread. I know that's hard to believe but it's true....I grew up with people just like that and the town where that was filmed is 2 hours from where I grew up.

Hehe, yeah, it's actually pretty awful, but I'm a big fan of terrible movies. Yes, I know I"m weird.
