  1. Just like the title says.......(was going to post this in someone's bass for sale thread but decided against it)

Oh my...remember the old days where people did the research on a big purchase because and you couldn't return it to the store because its "just not what I'm looking for" or "I have to thin the heard" and BS like that?

Or you had to spend a lot of money on a advertisement in the paper. These days it seems that shipping costs and packaging are "dispensable" income?

I still own EVERY bass I bought but 2....one was a cheap Samik 5'er (my first bass) and the other was a Wal MKI which I sold locally to a friend to which if he ever sells it ...I get first crack
I'm not going to point fingers here because everyone knows who's who when it comes to this. There is someone selling a bass they bought new for the second time in 5months....really?
There is always exceptions to the rule.....like getting laid off or having another child or getting Tendonitis or something like that ....but I'm talking about the repeat offenders here who have the dumbest excuses for not keeping "the best sounding bass ever!"....yea right

Someone started a thread called "What do you love about your bass"...here was my post

    That is all.......:bag:

I stopped caring about what other people do with their gear a while ago. Besides, all the wheeling and dealing on here suits me just fine, since there's a better chance of finding something I want used.

When I was playing bass, I cycled through gear like that. I didn't know I was an idiot for doing so. I actually thought I was doing myself a favor by trying as many different brands and types of gear. Guess not.

  7. Didn't actually say that it bothered me...just a rant and indirect finger pointing...maybe it will make someone think twice and save them some shipping $$....they can thank me later ;)

I think what you are describing is what is known as "tone chasing".

I doubt it. I think they'll have a similar opinion to the rest of us: "That's like, your opinion man."

    ;)

I remember the days when you COULDN'T buy gear online, and you were limited to what could be found locally or mail-ordered over a handful of catalogs. I remember when your only option for selling a used piece of gear was a classified ad or trade in at your local music store. I remember having a lot less options.

Sites like this one have been great for me. I've purchased a number of used basses, gotten to try things I otherwise would have been able to touch, then sold them at the same or higher price when I decided I didn't want them. I'm also fortunate that I have the disposable income that allows me to do such things, as it is my hobby. While it wouldn't make much sense to buy a bunch of basses new, then sell them used on here, buying and selling used can afford you some great opportunities.

What others choose to do or not do with their money should be of no consequence to you. The fact that it bothers you so much that you had to create a whining thread like this one is a bit pitiful.

Sometimes the only way to try a bass is to buy it. Not all of us are close to stores that stock the kind of bass we would like to try. My research is done on the feedback rating of the seller, if I've researched the used price I know there's a good chance I can get close to that back if it doesn't work out for me.
